TDS-070 6-12V DC Spring Return Open Frame Silent Travel Interposer Solenoid.

Description

Here is an automotive grade solenoid which was originally used in Chrysler gear shift assemblies for late model vehicles. It was specifically designed with cushioning internally to make it operate near silently. The original application had the shaft of the solenoid acting as an interposer so that the gear shift could not be moved until energized. The first and second images show it being unenergized then energized.
It can operate at 12 volts but not continuously. Pull-in voltage is 4.5 volts, drop out is 1.6 volts. It draws about 900 milliamps at 12 volts 600 milliamps at 6 volts coil resistance is 8.5 ohms cold 11.0 ohms hot.
It would be best used with a driver circuit that initially pulls in at a higher voltage then drops to the six volt hold voltage. It also has a built-in flyback clamping diode
